Admission Procedure

Thank you for choosing AL YOUSIF HOSPITAL. To help you arrange for your admission to AL YOUSIF HOSPITAL, we have provided general information on our policies, and procedure. We have also detailed the services and facilities that we provide to make your hospital stay a comfortable and pleasant experience.

What To Expect During Your Hospital Stay?

What you will need in the Hospital?

Items that you may want to bring may include:

  • A list of medications that you are taking (Home brought medication should hand over to attending nurse.) Your physician or pharmacist will decide about the medication)

  • Current medical Insurance Card Iqama/Hafiza


Planning your admission

Please inform the Admissions Office which is located just beside the main reception about your date of admission that is already agreed upon between you and your doctor. The Admissions Office should be contacted well in advance so that necessary formalities and other procedures can be completed prior to your admission.



Self-paying Patients

Self-paying Patients Hospital policy requires that self-paying patients deposit the estimated cost of treatment prior to or at the time of admission. Cost estimates can be obtained from the Admissions Office prior to admission. However in case of emergency life saving treatment will be provided without any delay.

Company Sponsored Patients

If your treatment has been sponsored by your employer, please inform the Admissions Office well in advance and ensure that all necessary authorizations and other documents are in order.

Insured Patients

Your doctor through clinic nurse will arrange pre-authorization for your procedure and admission. The hospital has arrangements for settling treatment expenses directly with all major health insurance companies. Most require the planned treatment to be pre-authorised to qualify for direct settlement. Please contact the Admissions Office well in advance with full details of your planned treatment and insurance cover. They will let you know if your treatment has been approved by the insurers for direct settlement or not. Expenses not covered by insurance plans will have to be settled by you in cash or by credit card.

Accommodation & Meals

Al Yousif Hospital offers three grades of accommodation, viz. single Private Rooms sharing two bedded rooms and three bedded rooms . All rooms have en-suite bathrooms and are fully furnished with individually controlled air-conditioning, Local direct dial telephones, mini-fridge, and multi-channel satellite television. Please indicate your choice of accommodation to the Admissions Officer who will try to comply subject to availability and your insurance terms & conditions.

A wide choice of Arabic and Asian selections is available from the dietary service. Vegetarian preferences and other special diets are also catered. A clinical dietician will assess your dietary requirement. Patients' meals and refreshments are included in the room charge.

On the day of Admission

While most surgical patients are admitted on the morning of the planned surgery, pre-operative preparations and anesthetic evaluation will be completed well in advance. After completing necessary documentation, you will be shown to your room.



The hospital provides pajamas and dressing gowns slippers and toiletries.


Patient Valuable

Do not bring valuables such as jewelry, expensive watches and large amount of cash

Valuable that have been brought in the hospital can be placed in safety at nursing station

Procedure of Patient Valuable

The Head Nurse will collect the valuables and shall keep in a cover and valuable form will be filled by the Charge Nurse and you will be asked to co-sign by the attending nurse at the time of receiving as well as handing over the valuables.

For Mothers-To-Be

If you are having a baby, it is best to pack a suitcase two weeks in advance. Include two each of front-opening night gowns, nursing bras, baby vests, baby gowns, mittens, and wrapping blankets.

You must also remember to bring along family Hafeza /original /copies of you and your husband's passports and Iqama as applicable.

Overnight Guests

The hospital allows one parent to stay with his/her child up to 12 years of age at extra charges which covers provision of a fold-away bed ,meals and refreshments.

Visiting Hours

Normal visiting hours are from 8:30 AM to 8:30 PM. For reasons of your health and that of other patients, it is best not to have more than three visitors at any one time. Children must be accompanied by an adult. We recommend that children below 7 years of age do not visit the hospital. Please ensure that your visitors do not disturb other patients.


If for any reason you are unable to keep your appointment for admission, please inform your doctor and the Admissions Office at least 24 hours in advance. Your co-operation will assist us in meeting the needs of other patients.
